winning essay: mr. emig was my math teacher in 7th grade. i feel he should be nominated for teacher of the week because his strategies helped me in so many ways. i have always been good at math but i just memorized everything, mr. emig actually helped me understand it! he would be at the school an hour early every morning just so he could help out his students. i probably went to his tutorials once a week, even after i advanced grades. he would help with not only math, but also stories about life. his stories would talk about him and his best friend when they were our age and they helped us keep going. even when we were embarrassed or down, it would never top the time ozzie and him surfed the 350-z in south padre! his pre-algebra class was my stepping-stone to math. he has helped me through algebra 1 and geometry 1. i predict he will help me through all my hs math classes to come. i still keep his notes today. he didn’t just give us the notes, he taught us the notes. i can honestly say that ralph emig is the best teacher that there is! |
